APTPUO ratifies new agreement
Ottawa, 27 May 2011 – The APTPUO* Bargaining Committee is pleased to announce the ratification of the Tentative Agreement settled with the Employer on May 14th 2011. Members showed up in large numbers to vote on May 25-26 with 92% voting in acceptance of ratification.
“We are relieved that our members understood the difficult circumstances we were facing at the bargaining table, explains Greer Knox, President of the APTPUO, we hope that the momentum we have gained during this uphill battle will carry us through the next round of negotiations and place us in a much stronger position to bargain.”
Details of the Tentative Agreement will be released to the public once the Board of Governors ratifies it.
* The APTPUO is the Association of Part-Time Professors of the University of Ottawa. It represents approximately 1500 part-time professors teaching approximately 60% of the courses offered at the University of Ottawa. Some 3000 courses are taught each year by part-time professors.
